Camp Barakel 2008

Syndi went to Camp Barakel this summer.
The camp is located on a lake in Michigan.
Here Syndi is embarking on her journey.
Sylvia, her brother Kyran, her sister Tammie and our niece Lanette all went to Camp Barakel at some point in their lives.

Here Syndi doesn't appear too sure about all this, as she waits beside the bus in Flint, MI.
Syndi's Grandma (Syl's Mom, who recently passed), went to the original camp (Camp Michilake) founded by the man who founded Camp Barakel. Syndi looks ready to go now!
Johnny Johnson, the man who founded these camps, led Syndi's Grandma to the Lord.
Syndi adjusted to camp life quickly.
She made friends with Becca and many others.
Syndi was part of the Orange Tigers Tribe during her week at Camp Barakel.
They met to say the pledge of allegiance to the American flag each morning.
This is Syndi's cabin, Arrowhead #4.
Syndi's cabinmates, Sam and Ashley.
Syndi said that during her free time she and Becca went out on the lake in a canoe.
Thursday night they had a campfire cookout, where they roasted hot dogs.
Here she is with her tribemates.
They had to make the best mascot.
Her tribe came in second place.

They met in chapel every morning and every night.
They learned about God's Laws - The Ten Commandments.

The official Orange Tigers Tribe photo.
(Syndi has no idea what she was looking at;
Their counsellor is on the far left.)
Syndi had a great time, and hopes to return next year!
